Opinion on Mitt Romney

At the moment, it's looking like Gingrich or Romney are the most likely choices to get the nomination.  Romney as of yet has no past indiscretions like Cain, and he appears to be competent and speaks well.  He seems like the most intelligent of the potential GOP candidates and hasn't forgotten parts of history, foreign policy, departments, or the US voting age.  He also has the most money of the Republicans with almost $33 million dollars.  Unfortunately for him, the Republican party seems to have a lukewarm opinion of him at best.  Just as Obama dealt with the issues of race, Romney's religion can be divisive.  Many extremely conservative Christians do not look favorably on Mormonism.  He also loses some of the Republican base because he can be more moderate and has been prone to flip-flop on certain issues.  Depending on how he does in Iowa and New Hampshire, he could fall more behind or make a surprising start.
