Cartoon #2

The above cartoon was drawn by Ken Catalino for Townhall.com.  It depicts an elephant and donkey both dressed in suits in an office which is meant to represent the Republicans and Democrats in the debt reduction supercommittee. The newspaper on the desk reads "Debt Panel Fails After Impasse" which comments on the committee's recent inability to come to a deal on budget cuts.  Through the window there is a man outside holding an "Occupy Congress" sign based on the protest movement to express dissatisfaction with Congress.  Catalino uses ridicule and caricature with his unflattering representation of the politicians.  The cartoon comments on how the supercommittee failed to get anything done or resolve any problems.  It suggests that the Congressmen were more concerned with their own positions and appearance than help America's struggling economy.  The point of view is blaming the Republicans and Democrats equally because they couldn't put aside their differences to do their job.
