This political cartoon was drawn by Gary Varvel for Townhall.com. The key features are the main candidates in the GOP nomination race all dressed in basketball uniforms. Mitt Romney is standing on a ladder taking down the basketball which is customary after a win while Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul, and Rick Santorum try to cut him down. The cartoonist uses humor and ridicule to make his point that the other Republican candidates have been excessively attacking Romney. In recent debates Romney has gotten a lot of flak for flip-flopping on issues among other things. This suggests that attacking Romney so much could potentially harm the Republican party later in the Presidential Election if he is chosen as the candidate. The point of view of the cartoonist seems to be that the Republicans are undercutting their chances at success by attacking each other.
